I help genealogists research their ancestors in Pennsylvania through books, workshops, and a membership community.
Hello friends,
Before I start releasing new podcast episodes and blog posts, I'd thought it would be fun to share the most popular episodes first. Some delightful surprises for me in what was popular!
I also spend some time the past two weeks getting grounded again. Not grounded as in punished and set to my room (!), more like remembering why I started PA Ancestors in 2019 and connecting with it again. It's been a long, strange time these past couple of years and it felt good to write it all out.
I did not expect a post on rural ancestors to be #1, but most of the people who lived in Pennsylvania did in a rural area! And I'm thrilled to see my list of what I bring for research on the list! I hate being unprepared and I hope I help others have a great research experience.
My first podcast episode remains the most downloaded episode our of 65 episodes. And its no surprise given Aaron's depth of knowledge! The RootsTech episode popularity suprised me. However there is no surprise with Peter's episode landing in the top 3 - so many want to know more about the life of the early Irish in Pennsylvania.
I host my podcast on Buzzsprout. They have awesome support and an in-depth help center to learn podcasting. You can start your own podcast through this link and get a $20 Amazon gift card.
I've been helping with the indexing of the 1950's cenus. I completed Name Reviews for a couple of census pages through FamilySearch. It was super easy to do! I was reviewing what the computer artifical intelligence had "read" and correcting it. You can help too and get the census out faster to genealogists by going here to get started https://www.familysearch.org/getinvolved/1950
I'm trying out a new logo for PA Ancestors and wrote up what PA Ancestors is about. I'd love to hear what you think. Just reply to this email and let me know.
